Ephriam E. Newnum, age 83, a retired farmer and former resident of the Veedersburg community, was found dead Sunday morning, Aug. 6, at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Bevty Masters, in Brownsburg, where he had been making his home. The Hendricks County Coroner investigated and attributed death to a self inflicted gunshot wound. Born Nov. 9, 1877, in Fountain County, he was the son of David and Viola Redenbaugh Newnum. He was married in 1906 to Goldie Smith, who preceded him in death in 1934. He was a member of the Centennial EUB Church. Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Master; a son, Dorrell of Champaign; a sister, Mrs. Clara Hamm of Crawfordsville; two brothers, Harvey of Yeddo and Milford of Wallace; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Fishero Funeral Home. The Rev. Donald Tyler officiated with burial in the Centennial Cemetery. --typed by Walt W

Ephraim E. Newnum, 83, retired farmer of this community, killed himself with a shotgun Sunday in the home of his daughter, Mrs. Betty Anderson of Brownsburg with whom he had been living recently. His body was found when the family returned from church. Born in Fountain County, he spent most of his life in this area and was a farmer for many years. He was married in 1906 to Goldie Smith who died in 1934. He was a member of Centennial EUB Church near here. Surviving with the daughter are a son, Donald of Champaign, Ill; a sister, Mrs. Clara Hamm of Crawfordsville and two brothers, Harvey of Yeddo and Milford of Wallace. - kbz
